Aesop's Fables

Room 15 have been doing art work on Aesop's fables and have been blending colours and using our crayons in different ways for different effects. We have also been using black colour flow which is a P.V.A glue based substance that dries to make our picture stand out and we have been working on doing a back ground that would make our picture look amazing. The type of colours we use to blend is EG red and white = pink
Take a look at some of the brilliant artists doing their pictures and the finished products.

My Greatest Feat

Well we are 1 193 kilo metres into our journey hoping to get to 1600 kilo metres before the holidays. Along the way we have picked up lots of new information about South Africa and collected 15 All Whites who are walking with us.

Most of our pedometers have survived the journey. We are just competing with the bad weather to get more steps each day.

We have also been very interested to read a newspaper article about the Vuzuvela - Thousands of people wanted it banned from the soccer games.

The 'diski dance' is another way of showing support at the World Cup - you can log onto this and learn the steps of the diski dance on our blog.

We have managed to pick up 3 more All Whites to join us on our journey and are learning lots of new information about South Africa along the way. The quizzes have been challenging. One of the questions was even answered form the reading text dancing Dragons is doing this week - 'How fast is fast?'

MY Greatest Feat - WEEK 1

After 5 days Room 15 has walked a total of 611 079 steps amounting to 253.5 kilometres. We can now actually see where we are going on the map.

Our pedometers seem to be doing some funny things - resetting themselves for one thing. So far none are broken, quite a feat in itself with all the running around and climbing that is done during the day.

We have even gone on a couple of extra walks to build up our total.

25 May - My Greatest Feat

Today Room 15 walked a total of 128 430 steps and 53.3 kilometres on their first day. Our average for today was 4888 per person. We all had fun with our pedometers, working out the best position to have them on us and being careful not to break them.
They do seem to have minds of their own though especially with the counting of steps!!!!!
Mrs Trembath is taking our daily totals and averaging them out which means she adds up our daily total and divides it by the number of people walking that day.

Tune in tomorrow to see if we can beat our first days total.

My Greatest Feat

By wearing their pedometers and counting steps daily Room 15 will enter their results onto www.mygreatestfeat.org With their combined steps they will unlock stages of the journey through South Africa, along the way learning about South Africa, the All Whites and FIFA World cup.

As active participants online and offline, Room 15 will keep you updated about their journey.

It's been a long wait for the All Whites - 1982 was the last year they made it to this special sporting event.

Their achievement is one that requires great courage, skill and strength - feat and we'll be using our feet to see how far we can get around South Africa on our virtual journey.

Technology - PROBLEM SOLVING

More finished pop-up cards

TECHNOLOGY - PROBLEM SOLVING

Here are more examples of pop-up cards we have been working on.

Problem Solving - Technology

The theme for Term 1 has been Problem Solving.
Room 15 decided to make pop-up cards. First they had to make a card that popped up - without instructions. Next they were given instructions and diagrams to follow and most said that was even harder to do. Then they had to design a specific pop-up card that was to be given away to someone. Next step was to make a mock-up of their real card and assess it according to the criteria they had set. Finally they got to make their 'real' card that was to be given away.

LOTS OF PROBLEM SOLVING, QUESTIONS, FRUSTRATIONS MISTAKES AND ULTIMATELY SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
